legal help on the island

I just got through reading some horrific events tourists have dealt with concerning their timeshare, which made me think about what type of legal offices that might be on the island?

I just obtained an Associates in Arts with a Paralegal degree and will start on my bachelors as soon as I return from the island-so naturally I am curious as to what law is followed???

Dutch law is followed on the Dutch side. French law on the French side. Neither have much, if any, protection for timeshare owners.

Elaine, I think in Holland TS isn't allowed.Last Feb we meet a Dutch couple who told us their goverment doesn't allow the Dutch people to own TS for their protection.

Must have been a Dutch Couple who doesn't know the laws of their own country then, because Timeshare is available in Holand. Per example in Zandvoort there is a Golden Tulip Timeshare...

Kind Regards,
Philippe

France and thus the French side, has extremely strict timeshare laws and regulations to protect the consumer et al. Thats why you find so little if any there. It's too much hassle when you have the Dutch Side, Netherlands Antilles, a stones throw away..

The Dutch side actually has some laws in place but no one is really interested in enforcing them, so consumer is forced to go to court to protect his interest, and we see all this legal activity.

At the end of the day it boils down to the actual timeshare contract, many of which are long term leases, and how it was written and interpreted by the Judge.
