Flamingo Beach is nice...fine resort, good facilities and the area, Simpson Bay, is very convienient. There's a marina next door with day sails & ferries. I own two weeks at Flamingo and have been happy with that choice. The apts. have nice anemities. There's a beautiful pool and a beach bar. Restaurants are handy and so is a casino & convenience store.

Here is my typical response to people interested in the Towers: if you have any questions, feel free to ask

"The Towers at Mullet Bay, is in my opinion the best timeshare on the island, but I am biased since I own 2 weeks there! We have toured almost all of them and still prefer the location and layout of the Towers. It’s quiet, but close enough to all the action that you are not missing anything! It is a nine story “tower” consisting of 81 units. Studios, one, and two bedroom units, and on the 8/9 floor you have the penthouse units, which are 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms and include daily maid service. Each unit has a full kitchen, TV, VCR, boom box, and at least one full bathroom. The higher up in the building, the better the view. There are two elevators that service the building. The building sits on the edge of the now defunct Mullet Bay Resort and Casino, along the golf course which is operational. Some of the rooms overlook the medical school, lagoon, golf course, or ocean views (higher up the better). There are some rooms that are less desirable, because if you are not high up, you are over the lobby/parking area. The pool is wonderful. It sits right on the lagoon, so you tend to get nice breezes. There is a bar there that serves light sandwiches. You get your towels for the pool and ocean at the pool also. The Mullet Bay Beach is a very short walk down the main driveway, or you can drive to a parking area. As a Towers guest you a given free use of beach chairs, they are located by the only remaining bathhouse on the beach. You can rent umbrellas from either of the two food vendors on the beach, or bring your own. The golf course is not the best, but it is the only one on the island, so if want to play its there, no need for tee time, and you do get some sort of discount as a Towers guest. There is an activity desk in the lobby, and you can also inquire about re-sales from the same person. If you have more specific questions or know your room number, feel free to ask.

The walk to the beach is maybe 5-10 minutes max, but you should have a car to enjoy the area. The Atlantis Casino complex is booming, but please do not walk to it at night. As is the Maho complex, all within minutes away. The resort is about 12 -13 years old now. But still kept up pretty good. The pool is a major issue now as it needs to be repainted, but still is very nice.

Do you know what room they assigned you? I know it’s not a guarantee, but I can probably find you views from your room. It is quiet at night, but with Atlantis and Maho within minutes. Not sure if there still is a shuttle running, just ask at the desk. They will take a deposit on your card for incidentals. Before you go nuts over your bill, they charge you $50.00 or $25.00 a towel if you don’t return them that day. But no big deal, just get the receipt from James at the pool and bring to the desk, and they credit it back. "

Stayed at the Flamingo for 2 weeks (different trips)...came back for the 2nd week because we thoroughly enjoyed the 1st. However...after a long search (toured them all and stayed at several) we weighed everything and bought our time at The Towers. You'll see...it is unique and can not be fairly compared to the other time share resorts on the island. It simply stands alone in all categories (IMHO, of course). The 2 things that I wish it had was a fitness center and internet/computer capability...2 things that I convince myself to do without while on vacation Hopefully, you'll be staying at the Flamingo first...you'll appreciate The Towers more that way. However, you'll truly enjoy the Flamingo...we did. If you have your room number I can give you a description of your view from your balcony/balconies. cheers, spike.

The Towers DOES have a (small) fitness center.

It's in the building off to the right of the bar and towel exchange as you face the pool from the tower.

Speaking of fitness centers, I just recalled after reading the last post, that though Flamingo does not have one they will give you a pass to go to the center at Royal Palm Resort a very short distance away on airport road. There is also water aeerobics at their own pool several days a week.

GTaylor is absolutely correct...the KEY description being "small"...closet "small"...like 2 people "working out" get into each other's way !! Not what one normally expects of a "fitness center".

Barbara -
Thank you for your input. I have exchanged thru RCI and have been assigned a studio unit - however if a one bedroom is available - they will assign it to me because I own a one bedroom.

Can you tell me - do any of the studio's have an ocean view - should I ask for any specific unit, floor, bldg, etc. -

I am told it has a balcony.

Thank you again.

Spike -
Thanks for your input.

I am staying first at the Towers and then at the Flamingo - it was a bonus add on.

Although - units numbers have not been assigned. I have a one bedroom (supposedly with a balcony) at the Towers...Any unit, floor, bldg I should push for - for an ocean view ??

Likewise - I have a studio at the Flamingo (again suppose to have balcony)
Do you know if there are any with Ocean View? Again - what is your recommendation.

Thanks.

Spike - thanks. No units numbers as yet.

But - Flamingo is a studio - (supposedly with a balcony) - do any have ocean view...Can you recommend a bldg, floor, unit, etc.?

Towers is a one bedroom (supposedly balcony) - the same do you recommend any specifics.

Thanks.

Moz, all the units at the Towers have balconys, my favorite one bedroom is unit 808, it is a penthouse and overlooks the ocean in the distance, it is huge, basically the higher the unit the better, the 8th floor is the highest, there is only a few bad views, but they can still be interesting, plus depending on the which side of the building, you could be blessed, on one side you get morning sun, on the other you get afternoon sun. this can make for a very pleasant stay. Though I loved 808, you just cooked out on the balconys, too hot for morning coffee or afternnoon drinks. I am pretty sure if you swapped through RCI, they know the unit you are assigned, but there just isn't a guarantee that you will get it when you arrive, the resort has the right to change you.

808 was all sun!! Now your making me think. because I own on one side (medical school), and my Mom owns on the lagoon/golf course side, I don't think you can ask for a specific unit, I think they just assign it. But I think 06-09 units have morning sun, and the 01-05 rooms have afternoon sun, but I probably have that reversed, maybe Spikes knows?
