Tara Sunset Crest, St. James, Barbados - 4 bedroom villa
We finished building Tara in 2011 as our families home away from home when visiting Barbados. We hope that you, our guests, will enjoy the home as much as we do.
Tara is a tastefully furnished three story, four bedroom, four bathroom villa located in Sunset Crest, St. James, Barbados. A charming community next to prestigous Sandy Lane Estate within walking distance to beaches, supermarket, restaurants, bar/nightclubs and retail shopping on the famous West Coast of Barbados at Holetown. In addition, Tara is minutes from the new Lime Grove Mall with its fabulous designer retail stores, duty free shopping, restaurants and entertainment spots.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, two others have queen size beds and one has two twin beds. Each bedroom is air conditioned and equipped with a safe for securing valuables. All of the windows at Tara are screened so that if you prefer, you can enjoy the lovely Caribbean breeze wafting across Tara in the evenings. On the main level, double French doors open onto a lovely covered patio, sundeck and pool together with a covered gazebo area, perfect for relaxing during the day or enjoying a cocktail at sunset. Dining can be indoors or out with seating in the indoor dining room or outside under the covered patio next to the pool.
Tara is well equipped with air conditioning in all bedrooms, wireless internet, iPod dock and TV’s in three of the bedrooms as well as a large screen TV located in the media room adjacent to the fourth bedroom. Tara is beautifully and meticulously landscaped with a bountiful tropical garden lovely to look at and a source of privacy at the property.
In addition to the pool located on site and a short walk to the beach, during your stay at Tara you will have access to the 50 foot swimming pool, beach and tennis courts (at owner rates) owned by the Sunset Crest Property Owners Association (SCPO) of which we are members. Just take the SCPO membership card with you.
Tara is a family friendly home equally suitable for couples to get away or for a family with children. Two of the bedrooms at Tara are located on the main level so that elder guests need not worry about climbing stairs.
Tara is lovely but its greatest assets are the people who put a face to the home and welcome you to enjoy your stay to the utmost. Merle, our cook, and Aranda, our maid/laundress will take care of your every need six days a week with charm and good humor. Try Merle’s chicken curry, macaroni pie and rum punch!!

We loved this place, the food and service was amazing!!! Merle is and amazing chef. Order her fish fry, macaroni pie and curry chicken. We miss her pumpkin fritters, don't forget to order them!!! Go out in the morning, come back to excellent food in the afternoon. The two ladies Aranada and Merle definitely made the experience wonderful

It was our first time in Barbados and we had the best time ever! Everything was within walking distance and the outdoors were beautiful! The house was always cleans and the food the chef cooked was delicious. The was very kind, caring and welcoming. This vacation was so relaxing. What a wonderful way to begin a new year! Being in Barbados is always amazing but this visit was extra relaxing because of the comfortable and spacious accomodations at Tara. My family easily went from very active to very relaxed thanks to the service provided by Merle and Aranda who always had our meals prepared and laundry done. Everything was clean and well stocked, especially with towels even without having to ask. The house is beautiful and well appointed and convenient to shopping and the beach. Our three sons enjoyed splashing in the pool and lounging in the chairs . Dining al fresco was also fun. We will be back to Barbados again and hope a return stay at Tara is possible. STUNNING
Superb vacation! Merle and Aranda are wonderful! The house was always super clean - even with our endless sand and cannonballs in the splash pool. The food was terrific. I highly recommend Merle's Bajan Meal (flying fish). Barbados was stunning and we experienced as much of the island as possible in two weeks.

Merle and Aranda went out of their way to make our stay at the Tara House as pleasant as possible. We really enjoyed eating jerk chicken, perfectly seasoned hamburgers and spaghetti night after night at the outdoor dining table. We especially enjoyed the numerous chocolate cakes and homemade brownies that were lovingly prepared for us each day. Aranda did a fabulous job with the laundry and the house was kept very well. We also really enjoyed the amenities the property had to offer. Our daughters, eight and eleven, spent fun-filled days in the splash pool. We also had a movie day, which was easily accomplished because of the iPhone docking systems in the bedrooms. It was easy to download netflix movies from our phone, no video store required. Thank you for renting your lovely home to us!

Two years later and we are back at the Tara and once again thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Merle and Aranda are wonderful. My favorite dish this time round was Merle's chicken curry and still the pumpkin fritters. Merle fish cakes - was better than Oistins. The upgrade to the beach house - WOW!! Well spent money and the beach there was WONDERFUL. We didn't trip around much to other beaches this time but stayed at the beach house. To the owners - THANK YOU!! Your villa is wonderful and nicely decorated. We will be back in two years!!!

I especially enjoyed staying at the villa that is my namesake. Everything was wonderful. The house was so beautiful and welcoming. I loved the villa so much I would like to take it off your hands. We dined on succulent roast chicken, rice and beans, macaroni pie, shepherd's pie, pumpkin fritters (the best ever) and the rum punch was refreshing! BEAUTIFUL VILLA WITH CONVENIENT LOCATION
Spent 2 weeks with family and friends. The villa is gorgeous and extremely close to the center of Holetown (maximum a 5 minute walk to the grocery store and Surfside beach). I have stayed at many villas in Holetown over the years and this was probably the best location (unless you can afford a villa direct on the beach). We had morning visits on most days from the local monkeys (they use the back fence as a highway). Merle and Aranda (I hope I spelt her name correctly) took very good care of us the whole time and we really appreciated the hard work and long hours they put in. The local Property Manager (Michelle) was also helpful and accommodating especially given that we kept calling her because people kept locking themselves out of their safe (the local rum punch will make you do silly things if taken in large enough quantities). I would have given the villa an excellent rating except for 1 thing (although it is not the villa's fault). The neighbor next door is probably the most unpleasant person I have ever dealt with. Our first introduction to him was at about 8PM on our second night when he shoved his head through the bushes and started yelling we were being too loud. Granted we were having a good time but not so loud as to deserve such treatment. Had he been polite we would have been very accommodating and understanding. I could go on and on about the different "encounters" with him but suffice it to say, any noise level above what you hear in a library will get a reaction from him - no matter what the time of day is...We did eventually learn how to deal with him, and what initial upset us we now see as funny memories and stories to tell our friends, so I would definitely go back. Just wanted to give everyone fair warning ;-)

Our first time here at Tara and Barbados! What a beautiful country! The villa stay was exceptional! Complete amenities and beautiful house! Merle and Aranda made our stay comfortable, headache free and enjoyable! Merle's jerk chicken, macaroni pie, rum punch, pumpkin fritters and fish fry will be missed! Hopefully we can replicate her recipes! Aranda's housekeeping and laundering of our clothes regularly made our trip home easier and our stay as well! We hope to return soon!

NEVER BEEN TREATED THIS WELL!
we had a wonderful time. Merle & Aranda were great! We never have been treated this well anywhere. merle cooked us great meals. Aranda cleaned & did laundry. We would recommend Cool Running for a catamaran boat ride and Williams Bus Tour around the island. We definitely would come back here.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
What an amazing time we had at Villa Tara. We were visiting Barbados for our friends’ wedding and our stay here was perfect. Merle and Aranda were wonderful and prepared us yummy scrambled eggs, beans and toast every morning. Merle also made us the BEST pancakes which went down a treat. On our last day, a fantastic lunch of homemade jerk chicken, macaroni pie and salad was made for us which was again incredibly yummy!
