La Paloma Fitts Village, St. James, Barbados - 5 bedroom villa
La Paloma is a beautiful beach front villa on the West Coast of Barbados and offers exceptional views of the ocean and the most remarkable sunsets.
On the ground level there is a king sized bedroom and a games room. Four additional bedrooms can be found on the upper level - one being a master queen size suite and three twin bedrooms. All are air-conditioned with ceiling fans and en suite bathrooms.
The dining room, with its hard wood floors and furnishings, has a colonial style plantation house ambiance. There is also a living room and well equipped kitchen and the villa now offers a lovely splash pool with wood deck, ideal for a quick dip while relaxing in the garden.
A terrace with jalousie windows, lattice-work and furnishings upholstered in soft blue and white motifs, reminiscent of the Caribbean sky, overlook the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea where water sports enthusiasts thrive and sunsets enthrall.
Please note that La Paloma has a cat that roams the garden.

This was a fantastic trip, due to a great villa and staff. The La Paloma villa in Barbados was everything that we hoped for and more. The staff was exceptional, the food that was prepared by Rumell was 5 star and Candy's breakfasts were superb. Maxine and Doris provided excellent care of the villa and met all of our needs.

Myself and friends came to Barbados to enjoy the sunshine, the water sports and to party hard at crop over. We had the BEST time and couldn't recommend the villa enough. The views are absolutely breathtaking, the staff super friendly and the food that Rommell cooks is exceptional. We were quite concerned that the villa is situated near a road, but it is exceptionally quiet. We are already planning our next trip back to stay in La Paloma next year!

My 4th visit to this beautiful villa and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Barbados! Had a great time with a group of friends, the villa is fabulous and on one of the best patches of beach along the west coast, and a short walk to Jordans supermarket. View from the spacious balcony is stunning... The staff were very friendly and helpful - Candy, Maxine and Deborah - while Rommell's cooking was delicious.

It was remarkable how differently hotel guests and villa guests treat their stay on the island. When you stay at La Paloma the staff look after you exceptionally well and are experts on what's going on. You will find yourselves taking the time to explore both the local area and further afield (there is room for three cars but taxis and buses are cheap and easy). Chef knows local and international recipes and will tell you where to get supplies. Eating out is easy on staff days off and all manner of restaurants and bars are available to suit every budget. The villa itself has AC in the rooms and is very well ventilated in the common areas: the trade winds blow through the kitchen and out onto the balcony with its uninterrupted view of the beach. Water is shallow and aquatic flora and fauna abundant (snorkels are provided). Guests are free to be as involved as they want: want to cook your own breakfast? No problem. Want to take a kayak out? Help yourself. Flexibility is key but make no mistake: this is a luxury villa. You can be as relaxed as you want. That is the Bajan way.

The house was great, staff was excellent and so was the food, 2 things you should know about the house we stayed in, it only had A/C in the bedrooms and house was located on a fairly busy road so you would hear the road traffic through the day. There were shops close by to do your grocery shopping and also other types of retail stores, there are many things to do on this island and the leasing staff can help you with any needs or request you may have. I have been to many islands, and the native people of Barbados are nicest people you will ever meet.

Fabulous in every way. After arriving on this beautiful island for the second time in 15 years we were glad to be back. La Paloma is truly a great villa right by the ocean. Perfect for a nice walk or swim in the morning. All the staff were fantastic, especially Rommell who's cooking is Divine! (We shall miss being waited on) You have all made this holiday absolutely wonderful, we couldn't have asked for more. It was such a beautiful setting and we look forward to returning to the island and to La Paloma.

Well starting off with new friends and loved ones in such a beautiful setting on a beautiful island is and easy start to a tremendous and memorable time. What helped to make this trip EXTRAORDINARY was the the terrific staff, Maxine, Candy, Debra and of course Rommel for who we can't thank enough for allowing us to invade his kitchen. Barbados is all that we hoped it would be and this was on the the best vacations we have had by far. We look forward to coming back to our home away from home with the rest of our family and friends

La Paloma is such a fabulous place and the staff. Staff is the wrong word, at this point they are friends after being so attentive at every turn. The true sign of a well run house is the people and Maxine, Romell, Candy and Debora are the embodiment of hospitality. Out stay was special because of the,. We are forever grateful for the memories, Barbados and the people of Barbados are beautifully warm and inviting. We'll Be Back

STUNNING PICTURESQUE VILLA
La Paloma is a wonderful place. All pictures of the villa are real. Only thing is, like you can read in some posts online, that the billiard room is darker than advertised. This is still not a problem. All the other pictures are real - even though we couldn't believe it. Marvelous sunsets, spacious room neat clean location in a romantic place. Four staff (Cook, Gardener, Housekeeper and Maid) care about the whole space. Even though I didn't like having a cook because I felt that we had to eat at La Paloma and we had to care about the groceries for our meals, all the ladies were very friendly. Maxim is a great and very professional housekeeper. We do fully recommend that place and if you take the price by person you become a very valuable place with a beach almost for your own with a regular (almost daily) visit by turtles and unbelievable sunsets

Pizza sauce all the way from Portsmouth, NH, York ME and the beautiful bitter cold New England - We arrived here at La Paloma! The view from this home home sure does beat the -3 degrees windy snow tunnel up north. Good times were shared here and Maxine, Rommel, Deborah, and Candy became a part of our friendly family. As a matter of fact we are sitting here on our last day trying to figure out A) How we can take them with us or B) When we are coming back to see them again!!! Sea Turtles, fish an octupus, crabs, sea glass and beautiful weather here all week. Ohhhh and tons of RUM :) We had the best food right here in the comfort of La Paloma - Chef Rommel impressed us with every meal, it beat all the restaurants by far. We will be looking into starting a pizza bar down here because thats the one thing we thing Barbados needs. Thank you from each on of us, from the bottom of our hearts. We love this home and we feel in love with the staff and cant wait to come back (We will bring the pizza :)) All the best

A TRUE VACATION
My family and I, along with friends had a wonderful stay at La Paloma. We had 9 adults and 4 kids under the age of 5 yrs old. What a FANTASTIC week of what I call a "TRUE Vacation!" The house is very comfortable and private. We enjoyed having a smaller pool, along with the beach being steps away. The kids enjoyed the pool and game room so much! It was perfect for keeping them busy. The house also offers snorkel and kayaks which were great for exercise and just relaxing on the peaceful waters. Snorkeling had lots of fish to offer and sea turtles we saw everyday. The housekeepers and cook were welcoming and very accommodating. The meals were delicious! It was very nice not having to clean up, but getting to relax after your meal. Ladies, thanks for all of your hard work! We highly recommend La Paloma! We look forward to our next visit, but for a 2 week vacation.

BEAUTIFUL STYLISH HOME ON BEACH
La Paloma is a beautiful, stylish, tastefully decorated home in a stunning location on the West coast of Barbados, as close to the sea as you can be without getting your feet wet. A gate leads from the pretty, secluded, private garden to the beach. Alternatively venture no further than the plunge pool and sun loungers in the garden. Days at La Paloma centre around the very large verandah at first floor level with its stunning views of the sea and the sunset. This leads directly through the high ceilinged dining hall to the kitchen beyond. The kitchen looks over the main west coast road ( still only just wide enough for a vehicle in each direction) and those familiar with Barbados will know that this can be a busy road. However, at the back of the house, in the three main bedrooms, on the verandah or in the garden one is quite unaware of the proximity of the road. All the bedrooms are beautifully and individually decorated with very good quality bed linen. This is a house, not an hotel, so the rooms vary in size. The smallest room might be best suited to children or a single adult, although when configured as a double bed it is extremely comfortable. The house is well equipped and beautifully furnished with a mixture of antique and modern furniture and artefacts. The staff look after the house and the guests discretely and efficiently. Ruth, the cook, prepares lovely meals which can be served formally or informally as you prefer. The location of the house enables easy access to Bridgetown and all that the west coast has to offer in the way of restaurants, hotels and shopping. The small local supermarket, just 2 minute's walk away is a bonus. I have stayed at this house on several occasions with groups of friends, all of whom have absolutely loved the house, garden and location and cannot wait to return.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE!
The villa is located in a magic place. Sea turtle come just outside the house and it is a good place to snorkel as well. Garden and pool was always the fun every afternoon. The balcony with a breathtaking view is speechless any time of the day. The rooms have a good size specially the bathroom in the master suite. The rooms in the back gets very little noise from the street. I had my children sleeping there and it was fine. My 5 friends, our 3 children and I had an amazing holiday.

A TRULY FABULOUS HOME!
We stayed at this property as guests of the owners but this review is purely my own. This is a truly beautiful home. You will probably want to spend much of your time sitting comfortably on the large terrace/balcony which overlooks the Caribbean sea. From here you can watch yachts of all shapes and sizes sail by. The balcony remains cool and shaded all day and provides a perfect view of the spectacular sunsets. The swimming pool with sun beds on the decking is just below and you can stroll out of the garden onto the beach for a swim in the sea. We were looked after by the 4 excellent staff. They cooked us amazing meals, and also kept the house spotlessly clean and the garden looking fabulous. Some of the bedrooms overlook the road at the front of the house but we weren’t actually bothered by the traffic. In fact, I haven’t slept so well in years (particular mention of the gorgeous pillows). The bedrooms are air conditioned so you can keep cool at night.

LA PALOMA, SUPERB PLACE TO RENT FOR A WEEK OR TWO!!!
We have just come back from a week in Barbados staying at La Paloma Villa and all I can say is what a superb place to rent for a week or two!!! When you first arrive you initially worry that it is so close to the road the happy buses and other traffic flow will be detrimental to the peace and tranquility of the setting and although on the first night I was very aware of the early morning commuters on their way to work this soon became totally irrelevant as the balcony view and beach location completely overrides any negative. Just to make a point you could nt really hear the road noise in the pool , garden or first floor balcony and to have the beautiful secluded beach at your disposal and for 99% of the time to ourselves it was just perfect. The snorkelling there was good to get the beginners in the water and for those more accustomed you could venture out further in the safety of the Bajan calm clear waters, preparing your self before you take the must do glass bottom boat ride out to swim with the turtles and see one of the numerous ship wrecks. ( always try and bargain with the locals, remember there is a tourist price and a locals price ). The villa was kept beautifully clean by the Staff ( I have OCD ), Norma and Ruth were amazing and catered for our every need in a professional and efficient manner. Ruth's cooking was fantastic and every meal was devoured over tales of the events of the day. To then be able to retire to the balcony and see the sun set whilst making headway into several rum punches and feel all the stresses and strains of life back home uncoiling by the second was just perfect. I had the Master bedroom which was just lovely and the bathroom is enormous with loads of closet space. The downstairs king size bedroom also gives plenty of space and a beautiful big bathroom, the double that is upstairs and with a sea view again is spacious and extremely comfortable. The two bedrooms at the back are more suited for either younger members of a family or a couple who dont mind having a slightly smaller space and en suite. This is not to say they are cramped as I thought all bedrooms were generously proportioned. My point being only if 10 adults were sharing to who gets which bedroom! Each bedroom had a safe and even though i find Barbados one of the friendliest places on this planet, security for the villa was very re-assuring, a full alarm system including infa red sensors around the balcony, lock and bolts for all entrances and a lockable gate to the beach which most of the other rentable villas in the area did not have. La Paloma really comes into its own with facilities also with the plunge pool perfect for cooling off in the midday sun or when you desire a change from the aqua marine sea. The garden has been beautifully cared for with beautifully mature trees bushes and shrubs and a games room with proper pool table wide screen tv and table football. We did nt use this room much other than the odd game of pool as most of our evening time was spent on the balcony and in my opinion this is the focal point of the house. There are a couple of kayaks in the garage, an inflatable for floating in the pool and life vests and floats for weaker swimmers for the sea and plenty of beach towels, making this just perfect for beach side life. The dining room is central to the building and connects all the upper floor bedrooms together and is a perfect way to seperate all the guests giving them all their own corner of the villa but allowing them to join the social setting when ready. As I was getting married in Barbados that week , we had an evening cocktail party and every one who attended from neighbouring hotels were gobsmacked by La Paloma and its setting especially at night. The villa is wired upstairs with speakers to the garden, inside and the balcony and this can be adjusted with the music system so any party can either be all through the house or isolated to one area , it was also possible to plug in an ipod which for us was ideal. The location of the villa relative to its surroundings also seemed so perfect being (traffic permitting ) a ten minute drive into bridgetown , a super market 5 minutes walk away , an italian restaurant 2 minutes walk away ,which the owner could nt help but tell us the chef's of "The Cliff" come to eat at and the other various stars and celebrities that have frequented his establishment. He did make an amazing Pina Colada !!! You are also just a few minutes drive or a decent beach walk if you want to from Sandy Lane although some parts you have to return to the path. Also Holetown which on certain nights we found very entertaining , 2nd street Karaoke bar and the surrounding bars are a fun night out and only 10 minutes by car. You really get the feeling your at the centre of the platinum coast even though there are only other beach side villas and a nursery and residential homes surrounding you. All in all we found the experience exceptional and I would book La Paloma again in an instant should I be travelling with a group of 6 or more. For those that came to my wedding and stayed in neighbouring hotels they all agreed that renting something like La Paloma was ideal and would definately by their preffered option should they return and when you break down costs between an all inclusive and the shared cost of the villa to me its a no brainer. You get to eat what ever you like and when you like. You have a personal house keeper to help you with anything you need. The bar never closes. The space is your own. The pool is reserved for you. The beach is almost exclusively yours. The games room is exclusively yours and you can sun lounge without the annoyance or others interferring with your R and R. Pefect just Perfect Many thanks La Paloma!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHARMING FAMILY HOME
Charming family home. Directly on the beach and perfectly located 2 minutes walk from a supermarket and a 5 minute taxi ride to all the great restaurants on the island. Very fully staffed. Good value compared to other rentals I visited in Barbados. Not modernised but the lack of widescreen TVs helped us totally switch off and returning home truly relaxed. Hope to come again.

WILL DEFINITELY RETURN
La Paloma is ideally located on the beautiful west coast sandy beach between Hole town and Bridgetown, close to some fabulous restaurants and all amenities needed. The villa offers very comfortable spacious accommodation with good quality furnishings and a very generous stock of kitchen equipment, crockery and glasses etc. The large open lounge/veranda is perfect for the whole party to socialise and looks out onto a beautiful garden, small but delightful pool and the ocean. There are plenty of sun loungers and outside seating both in the sun and shade with a large outside dining table. snorkelling equipment, beach towels and 2 kayaks are provided. The information pack provided is very current and helpful, especially for guests new to the area. What made the holiday extra special were the 4 staff at the villa, they were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The cook is excellent, imaginative and skilful providing us with delicious meals throughout. We will definitely return to La Paloma.

MOST HEAVENLY 2 WEEKS IMAGINABLE!
We have just come back from two weeks staying at La Paloma and I have to say it was the most heavenly two weeks imaginable. Situated on the beautiful West Coast of Barbados, we only had to open the back gate from the garden to walk out onto the beach, from where we would swim or snorkel daily. We encountered the beautiful turtles most days without having to go on a boat cruise - they are literally swimming around outside the back garden! The large, well appointed house is beautiful, and kept lovely and clean by the staff, who will tidy your rooms and provide clean towels daily. The house can accommodate 5 couples, although the rooms are not all of the same size, and not all have a view overlooking the ocean. The staff are great and will do as much or as little for you as you would like. Ruth cooks beautiful Bajan dishes on request, so you really don't need to go out to many of the superb restaurants nearby, as you can have great home-cooked food prepared for you and served on the balcony. And what a balcony it is too; in fact this is the piece de resistance of the whole house - a beautiful large balcony overlooking the ocean with sofas, a dining table and hammocks from which to watch the beautiful sunsets and spot the turtles and frigate birds as they go by. The house is value for the balcony alone, but there is also a fantastic games room with pool table and mini football along with a TV & DVD, though to be honest we didn't spend much time in it as it would have eaten into our time on the beach, in the garden on loungers by the small pool, or just relaxing and drinking cocktails on the balcony. We couldn't fault La Paloma and are already making plans to come back next year for our next slice of Paradise.
