Gitana is the newest Beneteau model, a 42 foot design from Group Finot, world-renowned naval architects. The 423 features a fold-down swim platform and a slide-away top deck section. When in sailing trim the transom is solid and has the classic stern shape, with the added advantage that you can place a properly sized name across the transom. When you wish to use the stern for boarding or swimming, it is a simple matter to convert. You slide the top deck section forward and fold down the transom deck, providing a sizable platform with fold-down swim ladder. Further, instead of climbing a ladder down to the platform, the transom has large molded steps for safe passage. Best of all, this arrangement provides a very spacious aft deck for lounging, sunbathing or deck chairs. The aft deck is a great place for mom and dad (or grandmother and grandfather) to perch on a lounge chair while watching the kids swim off the stern, or the sun fade over the horizon.
